1) What's the wire you use?
Sterling Silver wire and 9 ct. Gold Fill wire
2) What thickness is the wire?
1mm Diameter, 18 gauge US
3) What do I clean it with?
I recommend a Silver cloth for the sterling silver which will bring Sterling silver back to its former glory. Avoid Silver dips which I have found too harsh and often discolor the silver
4) How long have you been doing this?
I first started on the Island of Crete in Greece around July 1985
3) Do you do them in Gold?
I do them in 9ct. Gold Fill which is Gold bonded with a base metal such as brass
4) I have seen people making little bicycles and stuff like that, do you do that?
No, I tried once to make a bicycle and made one of sorts, but it took too long and there are other talented wire benders out there who can make these
5) Do you do the rice names?
I tried that too! but decided it was a lot of messing around to do one on demand at markets
6) Does that require a lot of patience?
Yes it does, but mainly practice makes perfect like anything, the more you make, the better you get, and easier it becomes
7) Do you do bracelets?
I have made them in the past, and I want to make them again. The problem was with names the way I make them is that they can get easily snagged on clothing etc and the customer ends up losing them which is not good. I am working on a design to prevent this
8) What is the shipping time to the USA?
About 4 to 12 working days according to Australia Post, the Australian postal system - this seems to be the case in most instances however mail can sometimes get delayed for whatever reason, especially around 2 weeks prior to Christmas and can take up to 10 days
9) Do the Chains cost more depending on the length?
No, all the chains for the necklaces are the same price, regardless of length
10) Is it possible for the name to bend while if you have the necklace on while you are sleeping or playing sports or something?
It is not recommended to wear while sleeping as the name itself can get bent out of shape even though it is quite sturdy
11) Can I wear the necklace in the shower or swimming pool?
Yes, if it is Sterling silver there are no problems, sometimes the silver can go black, but silver can always be restored to its original colour
12) I was looking at my credit card statement and noticed that i have a second deduction of 41 cents. What is the second deduction for?
It took me a couple of days to work this one out, it seems that buying from overseas can incur a charge to convert the currency, the bank that the buyer uses seems to be the one that makes this deduction, I don't know if it occurs with all banks, it is the first time I have heard of it in three years of selling online
13) Is there anyway i could order a necklace without a credit card? Do you have a mailing address?
There are two ways to pay from overseas at present, by credit card or by Paypal. If you have a Paypal account you can use that, but if you don't it is a simple process to create one at Paypal there are also Paypal sites for selected countries also, these will be on the Paypal site.My mailing address is on the Contact us page
14) Do you have tracking on your orders?
No. The normal shipping method is free for you to keep costs down, so there is no tracking available
15) Can I get it shipped overnight?
Not yet. The quickest it can get to it's destination is 3 - 5 days (from Australia to overseas), although this may change in the future as I find a distributor in the USA
16) Can I send one of your names as a gift to someone?
Yes, when filling out the form put the address that the name is to go to in the comments box - I can put in a personalized message as well if you wish, eg - "Happy Birthday Jessica from Nan"
17) My daughter's name contains an apostrophe. Is this something you could incorporate into a necklace? It is O'Mara.
Apostrophe's are very hard to do without the name looking strange, I have tried to incorporate them and accents that sometimes occur in names without success unfortunately !
18) It has been two weeks now and I haven't received my name, what can be done about it?
The name can take up to 12 working days to arrive due to circumstances beyond my control - however, if the Name hasn't arrived after 12 days I can issue a full refund or repost the name, free of charge. The statistics are very good for arrival of the packages, very few get lost in the post I would say I have around a 98% or 99% success rate with packages sent to the United States and the UK. The rest of the world however seems to get more delays for some reason, it may have something to do with the flight paths from Australia
